The grower determines the optimal configuration of the Climalux grow light system

CLX V1000

The CLX V1000 full-LED grow light was developed in the Netherlands and is based on a nature-oriented philosophy. To achieve this, Climalux developed a daylight LED grow light that imitates spring sunshine to stimulate crop growth.

Horticulture Control Unit (HCU)

The Horticulture Control Unit from Climalux is the link between the horticultural process computer and the grow light system. The connected full-LED grow lights can be grouped to suit any required configuration. This includes separate groups for corridors, walkways and workspaces. The smallest group can consist of four grow lights.

Power Supply Unit (PSU)

The Power Supply Unit converts 400 V mains voltage to 400 VDC – suitable for a set of four grow lights – and can be positioned in the greenhouse as required. High electric efficiency and extremely low starting current make this an indispensable link in the grow light system.

Features of the Climalux full-LED grow light system

The colour of the light, in combination with the vertical airflows, creates an optimal microclimate and guarantees the highest crop quality.

By applying CLX V1000 grow lights, crop growth is no longer threatened by harmful factors, minimising crop failure and increasing production from the growing surface area.

The application of LED technology leads to significant savings, and the combination of a grow light with the unique ventilation system truly makes the difference. These internal vertical airflows create a stable microclimate around each plant, greatly reducing the need to use outside air and extra heat. It also significantly reduces CO2 emissions. This form of climate control shares many characteristics of a completely closed greenhouse system.

The energy generated by the light is fully utilised by the vertical ventilation system. The air flows through the plants from above and is mixed with the cold air below. This creates a constant heat flow that increases the greenhouse temperature by several degrees, reducing gas consumption.

Artificial inhibitors are often required to ensure the quality of a plant. However, they also have a negative effect on the environment and are highly cost-prohibitive. Intensive crop trials under CLX V1000 grow lights have proven that the use of inhibitors can be minimised; in some cases they were no longer required. This is due to the microclimate created by the light and vertical airflow.

Climalux used energy reduction as its starting point during development of the CLX V1000 grow light, to save on both gas and electricity consumption. Not only from an environmental point of view, but also to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Energy produced by the grow light is fully utilised: 50% for light and 50% for heat. This makes the Climalux light 25-30% more efficient than an HPS grow light and a gas saving of 35% is achieved for heating.

The lighting and ventilation can be adjusted automatically and independently thanks to the light’s stepless dimming option. This creates a stable environment for the plant and requires less energy.

The risk of crop damage caused by insects and mould is completely eliminated by the vertical airflows around the plant. These airflows prevent insects and moulds from spreading horizontally. Insects are ‘sucked’ up towards the light, where the temperatures are too high for most insects to survive. This ensures virtually insect and mould-free crop growth, and results in reduced crop losses.

Pathogens have less chance to develop due to the continuous airflow, stable temperature and uniform humidity. If a plant is infected, the spread of disease is restricted to the plants within the microclimate zone. Removing the infected plant is usually sufficient to prevent further plant loss.
